3 Tips to Get Ready to Teach This Summer

If you are teaching over the summer there are a few things you can do to ensure things go smoothly.
  1. Email Your Students - Send them a friendly greeting two weeks before the term begins; that's April 30th. Gasp! Tell them about the class schedule, textbook, etc. Monitor roster changes and email students that add later.
  2. Prepare Your Isidore Site - Students often log onto your Isidore site before they ever meet you. You want to make a good first impression. Put something nice on the course homepage, populate the Gradebook with all the assessments, make sure there are no references to old information, and ask friends or E-Learning staff for a second pair of eyes to evaluate your site!
  3. Consider Term Length - The Summer 1 and Summer 2 terms are compressed to 6 weeks. This means you may have to adapt certain assignments and learning activites to fit this time constraint. For example, large projects may need to be introduced sooner.
Lastly, know that you are never alone! The Office of E-Learning is available all summer to help with these and any other teaching needs.

Did you know that the Lessons tool now has layouts that can help you quickly structure and organize your course content? These layouts can help both you and your students find content more easily, as well as add some visual contrast and flair to your site!

See the three minute demonstration video below to learn how to use these Layouts. When you have used them in your site, send us an email at elearning@udayton.edu to let us know - we'll brag about your creative usage to everyone.
